The Trustees of Nunthorpe & Marton Playing Fields Association (NMPFA) regret to inform members and residents that, following legal advice and careful consideration, Coulby Newham Junior Football Club (CNJFC) has been issued notice to leave the charity, effective 31st March 2025.

Since taking office, the new Trustees have taken a flexible and cooperative approach to resolving long-standing financial issues with CNJFC. Despite inheriting outstanding pitch fee arrears from the previous administration, the new Trustees offered reduced terms to help CNJFC meet its obligations. However, CNJFC’s management has failed to honour the agreements made.

At a final meeting on 16th January 2025, a final figure for the 2023/2024 season fees –already 8 months overdue– was agreed and paid immediately. A payment plan was then established for the 2024/2025 fees, to be settled in three instalments from January to March 2025. However, CNJFC failed to make the first instalment (70% of the total) in January, leaving it outstanding.

Into February, a further instalment has now been received but not by the agreement detailed from the January 16th meeting.

Further damaging trust, CNJFC’s management also unilaterally cancelled a vital grant awarded for the refurbishment of catering facilities, without explanation or consultation with the Trustees.

Despite multiple offers of mediation, CNJFC’s continued failure to meet its commitments has left the Trustees with no choice but to take this action.

The Trustees remain committed to supporting grassroots football and are now in discussions with alternative organisations that share the charity’s and community’s values. New agreements will be available for all sporting sections at the end of the current season.

We understand this decision may cause frustration, but as a charity, we must ensure fairness and financial stability for all users.
